With digital photography, it's easy to experiment. Using trial and error, we can quickly shoot as a many images as it takes - often hundreds! - to walk away with with one or two winners. Who won't love more winners though? Try Previsualization. Previsualization is the process of imagining your image and seeing that image in your mind's eye before you take the shot.
Dominicka Jemmott, this week's SideKick360 winner, used exactly this technique on her winning image:
"One day I decided that I wanted to see how far I could go by being creative with just my iPhone 5. And since I love fine art photography, I decided to gather a few old pennies that I found inside an old jar in my closet. After looking at these pennies, I immediately saw how I wanted to capture the image. So, I stacked about 10-15 pennies on my window frame with the blinds & window open, some facing upward and the rest facing downward. Then I began taking a few shots (about 3-5). I didn’t like the first three, but the fourth one was a charm. I wanted to give the image a micro type of feel, so I had to give the camera a little tilt and move closer to get my focus on the one coin you see most.
I edited my image in Snapseed. I went for an old dirty grudge, slight HDR feel because that was what I had envisioned. 95% of the time, before I take an image that I’m being creative on... I see it in my mind before I capture it. Then BOOM you have a winning shot!" - Dominicka
