Sunil Sharma's "Distant Light": MeFOTO Instagram Weekly Winner

Soaring up to 112 feet, Big Sable Point Lighthouse, offers a commanding view of the shores of Michigan's Ludington State Park. Built in 1867, the light is still an active guide to navigation. Like many of Michigan's more than 130 lighthouses, Big Sable had fallen into disrepair until it was given into the hands of Sable Points Lighthouse Keepers Association in 1987. Since then, SPLKA has restored much of the lighthouse and seawall protecting it. Visitors willing to walk along the 2 mile entrance trail can tour the grounds, visit the original Keepers Quarters or check out the view from the top of the tower from May - October.

Sunil Sharma, SideKick360 winner for 8/1, shows off the beauty of the tower in the "off" season.

"I wanted to shoot an HDR image of this lighthouse for quite some time now. So i drove 7 hrs and hiked 2 miles in 15°F to get to this place and fired away a series of shots with my Nikon D4.

I was glad I had a MeFOTO Carbon Fiber Tripod with me which made the hike in that cold wind a little easier on my shoulders!" - Sunil
