Denise Johnson's colourful spiral staircase hypnotized us when looking through last week's entries. Don't get too dizzy looking at our 8/16/13 winner!
"I feel like I have been up and down this staircase 1,000 times. It is a 3 story lookout tower almost completely enclosed in glass, attached to the corner of a children's center near my home. I have tried photographing it several times in the past, but always seemed to encounter obstacles... sunlight washing out at least half of the colors, too many people, my own child's impatience. I recently revisited the center with a friend after most of the local children had gone back to school. Weather conditions were almost right. I initially took about a dozen images trying to get the angle just right because there was some sun-flare, and then we moved on through the exhibits. As we were nearing the last one, we could see a large cloud bank approaching. My friend obliged to watch our children as I dashed back to the other side of the building and to the top of the tower. Nearly out of breath, I finally got the image I wanted." - Denise
