Orchids. With their graceful lines and amazing range of colors, they make interesting subjects for close-up and macro photography. Surprisingly, it doesn't take much in the way of gear to create a good orchid photo. The basics are as simple as your favorite orchid, your camera, a tripod, a strong light source and something large and white to bounce that light off. Check-out B&H's excellent post on Beginning Orchid Photography for a detailed "How to".
Jenny Minutillo, last week's SideKick360 winner, captured her winning image in the comfort of her own home:
"I was intrigued by the "whisker" on the orchid and tried varies angles to capture it. It just so happened the back drop was a dark brown table lamp, so the contrast brings out the beauty of the orchid." - Jenny
