Joe Devine's eerily beautiful image caught our eye last week.
"This image was captured in a restroom in the administration wing of the old Ohio State Reformatory. The prison is also known as the Mansfield Reformatory and is famous for being the film location of the movie, "The Shawshank Redemption". I'm not sure why there was a school desk in the bathroom, but it made the shot!" - Joe
For some more technical info on the photo above, see below details:
Camera: Nikon D80
Lens: Tokina 12-24mm f4, this photo was shot at 12mm.
Tripod: Vanguard Alta Pro 284CT
Photo settings: 1/8 sec. at f13 and ISO 200
Processing: I actually shot 3 bracketed shots and merged them in Photomatix Pro. I took the resulting image into Photoshop for clean up and to add contrast and sharpening. I felt it would look better as a black and white, so I converted it using Nik Software's Silver Efex Pro 2.
To see more of Joe's fantastic work from the Mansfield Reformatory and beyond be sure to take a look at his Instagram account. Joe, we hope your new MeFOTO will accompany you on your future urbex sojourns!
